TietoEnator and MeritaNordbanken expand their co-operation in the Baltic countries and Poland

TIETOENATOR CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 31 MAY 2000 10.30 AM 1(1) TietoEnator and MeritaNordbanken expand their co-operation in the Baltic countries and Poland TietoEnator and MeritaNordbanken have signed an agreement on expanding their information technology co-operation in the Baltic and Polish markets. TietoEnator acts as the bank's partner in the Baltic countries and Poland by producing services that cover systems development and local support. The partners started their co-operation in the Baltic Sea area in Estonia in 1994. The co-operation further extended into Latvia when TietoEnator acquired the Latvian IT-company Tieto Konts. Tieto Konts is the market leader in the area and also has an essential role in producing services to MeritaNordbanken in the Baltic countries and Poland. At the same time TietoEnator Estonia continues partnership operations with the bank closer than ever. Finance Sector has about 100 employees in the Baltic Sea area. The customers mainly consist of the almost 100 payment systems product customers of Tieto Konts in the Baltic and CIS countries. TietoEnator is the leading provider of high valued added information technology services in the Northern Europe. Finance Sector has over 1500 experts and its service strategy is based on a long and close partnership with the customers. Developing systems based on new technology and integrating them into the existing systems is an important part of the service supply. MeritaNordbanken is the largest banking network in the Nordic Countries and has about 29 000 employees after the merger with Unidanmark. 400 of the employees work in the Baltic-Poland branch office, which covers the offices in all Baltic countries and the partnership bank in Poland. In the near future, the bank further wishes to broaden its customer base and service supply in the Baltic area. For that reason the bank invests in renewing its information technology.
