TietoEnator and Metso to co-operate in forest industry maintenance TietoEnator is to deliver a PowerMaint IT system to Metso Corporation´s Valmet for paper, board and fiber production line maintenance management. The system will be used globally in Valmet's service operations. PowerMaint is an enterprise asset and service management system, developed and marketed by TietoEnator. PowerMaint will be used as a core system of Valmet's service and excellence centers which utilise remote diagnostics. The PowerMaint system will provide an interface between Valmet Service and the customer's mill, and will allow increasingly effective planning and follow-up of maintenance operations, thus raising production efficiency. The PowerMaint system is introduced in a geographically decentralised environment with a browser-based user interface. The system also includes advanced maintenance reporting and analysing tools. The PowerMaint system also allows the provisioning of maintenance services (ASP) via the Internet, as well as the various e-business applications gaining popularity in the service business. The introduction of the PowerMaint system is the start of long-term co- operation planned between Metso's fiber and technology business area and TietoEnator, aimed at developing production support services for the pulp and paper industry. In the future, a complete, ready-to-use maintenance management system can be provided in connection with the supply of a paper machine. The agreement on the supply and support of PowerMaint system is a significant part of TietoEnator's EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) business strategy. In line with the strategy, TietoEnator is developing the asset management IT technology specifically for the service business value chain. Another strategic target of TietoEnator is to develop the IT technology required by the entire digital forest value chain. The signed agreement also provides excellent support for this target. The key customer areas of TietoEnator's EAM business include the energy, forest and telecom industries, as well as the service suppliers working with these industries.
