TietoEnator and The Central Pension Security Institute have developed a processing system for foreign pension affairs TietoEnator has supplied The Central Pension Security Institute with a system for the processing of foreign pension applications. The system offers faster and more reliable handling of the pension applications, replacing the previous manual operations. In the future, it will allow handling applications from the EU countries as a web-based solution. All applicant data from the various central registers of The Central Pension Security Institute is brought into one centralised system, where it will be further handled. This enhances the mode of operation of pension handling and gives a solution for the communication of the pension application affairs between EU countries. The increasing freedom of movement within the EU requires new operating models in the handling of pension applications. The system will be built in phases. The first phase includes the handling of old age pension applications. The objective is to handle all pension applications and decisions digitally. In the future, even the pension applicant himself can follow the process using the web. The technical solution of the pension application system is based on an n-tier architecture, the Microsoft COM (Component Object Model) technology and the Windows 2000 operating system.
