TietoEnator delivers a regional base register to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council TietoEnator has signed an agreement on the delivery of a regional base register with the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council (YTV). The register will gather the main geographical information on YTV's member municipalities, Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, into a common database, which is available for users through the Internet. The geographical information will comprise data on, e.g. buildings, the population and planning as well as different regional and other maps and, among others, the company and location data of Statistics Finland. The central geographical information of the basic register is intended for the approximately one million people living in the Helsinki metropolitan area. As the data will in the future be found in one common database, the system delivered by TietoEnator will facilitate the transfer of regional data. The user interface of the system will be a browser application that is easy to use, but the Regional CD, which is produced annually, can also be derived from the system. "The new system will contribute to the integration of municipal basic registers and thereby the availability of the information", says Ms Suvi Rihtniemi, Chairman of YTV's Board. "The municipalities of the Helsinki metropolitan area have made a co-operation agreement on the regional register and regional information service. Even though there are differences between the municipal registers, the data can now be gathered into one common database, from which people living in all the four municipalities can get the information they need. Thereby, the availability of the information improves and costs are cut down. The regional basic register offers reliable data on which plans and decisions can be based."
