TietoEnator has implemented PDA version of Kauppalehti TietoEnator has supplied Kauppalehti Online with a PDA downloadable version of Kauppalehti. Downloaded on a PDA, Kauppalehti offers the reader the English material of the newspaper: the daily news and a weekly column on the Finnish economy. In addition to this, the readers of the PDA version can see the stock quotes of the twenty most exchanged stocks in the Helsinki Stock Exchange and the hex index with a 15-minute delay. In the first phase this service is meant for the USA market, where PDA's have become more common than elsewhere. To read the magazine, the user needs a PDA with Microsoft Windows CE or Palm Os operating system. In addition, AvantGo's browser needs to be installed on the PDA. The user can load the pages for reading either when synchronising the PDA or using a modem connection. The modem connection can be established via a mobile phone. The technical solution is based on producing content from XML (Extended Markup Language) documents with the help of XSL language. The XSL language (eXtensible Style Language) is a standard language for defining the layout of documents to be published on the net.
