TietoEnator helps Boliden dig for gold with effective invoice handling TietoEnator Technology AB in Sweden has supplied a complete system for electronic invoice handling to Boliden Mineral AB. The solution, based TietoEnator's Invoicia concept, simplifies and makes the handling of suppliers' invoices more effective in a geographically spread organization. The solution essentially reduces the handling times and with that, the associated costs for the invoice handling within Boliden. The solution supplied by TietoEnator Technology constitutes a complete system for the scanning and handling of invoices as electronic documents in the subsequent routines within the organization. TietoEnator's Invoicia concept has been completely adapted in order to support Boliden Mineral's invoice routines from arrival registration, account-coding and approval to archiving and retrieval. The working routines are arranged in the form of item handling and have been integrated with the ledger in Boliden's accounting system. Established in Sweden in 1924 Boliden Limited is a mining and metals company with integrated exploration, mining, smelting and manufacturing operations around the globe. Boliden Mineral is to be found in five locations in Sweden. Ca 90 000 suppliers' invoices from ca 4 000 suppliers are handled every year. The invoices are received centrally, are scanned and sent electronically for control and approval to appropriate officials around the country. The gains for Boliden with the supplied solution are partly financial, the working time per handled invoice is reduced and partly the interest costs for delayed invoice payments are reduced. The gains are also work-related, since time-consuming steps are avoided such as the finding of invoices in a decentralized and geographically spread organization. The risk of invoices disappearing is just about insignificant. All account-coding and approval is based on an electronic document which means that post handling is avoided and thereby the extra waiting times which can be incurred. With a uniform handling where the flow and routines are made more effective, great quality improvements are gained.
