TietoEnator signs 3-year agreement with APA (Austrian Presse Agentur) in Austria TietoEnator has signed a 3-year agreement with APA for the maintenance of the basic solution for APA's news services. APA, Austria's largest news agency, has a large number of different e-business services that utilize TietoEnator's software family TRIP as archive and search systems for its information services. APA's electronic information services constitute one of Europe's largest web sites with over 14 million documents published over the web and with a growth of 20,000 new documents daily. The documents comprise everything from traditional text and word processing documents to images and sound. All the news information is searchable via the web and client/server. With the help of the TRIP developed solution, the system offers customers the possibility, via a number of different service concepts, of being able to choose everything from completely unprepared searches to the continual access to news within selected areas of interest via e-mail. APA's services are utilized by over 25,000 customers who, together, are connected to the services for more than 10,000 hours per day. At peak loading, over 1000 users simultaneously pose questions to the system. A substantially increasing service concerns customers who subscribe to personally selected information via e-mail and where the system, at the end of the year 2000, will automatically generate over 100,000 unique, personal e-mail messages per day. TRIP is a development environment to create free-text searchable information archives. The software is utilized to a great extent for the storage and retrieval of very large volumes of text-based information within both public administration and industry. Among Swedish customers who use TRIP, the following can be mentioned: the Government Offices, the Swedish Parliament, Telia, Saab Aircraft, the National Road Administration, the Swedish Employers' Confederation, the Post Office, the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, TV4 and more. TRIP is primarily used in connection with web-based solutions with very large volumes of information. International customers such as Bayer, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Schering och Handelsblatt have, during the last year, broadened their use of TRIP and supplemented their installations with TietoEnator's newly developed web-based software modules and pertaining services. "Content Management or web-based publishing and the handling of very large volumes of information is a large and growing operational area.
