TietoEnator Technology AB supplies software to leading German companies During the last quarter TietoEnator Technology AB has received a number of large orders from leading German companies for software within the product family TRIP. Customers such as Bayer, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Schering and Handelsblatt have supplemented their TRIP installations with web-based software modules recently developed by TietoEnator. The total value of the orders exceeds SEK 15M and also includes related services. TRIP is a development environment for the production of free-text searchable information archives. The software is used for the storage and retrieval of very large volumes of text-based information. - We regard the fact that large foreign companies invest in TRIP as confirmation that there is a great need for powerful solutions for information searching and that our solutions hold their own ground in the world market competition" says Jouko Kangas, Managing Director of TietoEnator Technology. TRIP is primarily used in connection with web-based solutions with very large volumes of information. Present users are to be found within public administrations as well as trade and industry. Examples of Swedish customers are the Government Offices, the Swedish Parliament, Telia, Saab Aircraft, the National Road Administration, the Swedish Employers' Confederation, the Post Office, the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, TV4, etc. Developed in Sweden TRIP is originally Swedish developed software, which was acquired by a German IT company. Through a series of establishments, company acquisitions and mergers within the international IT world, the software rights ended up with a Canadian software company. In 1999, TietoEnator acquired the rights to TRIP thereby returning the ownership and product development back to Sweden. - Internationally successful software which has been developed in Sweden is an important component for the retention of the good reputation which Swedish IT industry has in many parts of the world" Jouko Kangas means. TRIP is available on a large number of hardware platforms with optional user-interfaces in the form of both client/server and web-based solutions. An example of an area of use is RIXLEX, the Swedish Parliament's web-based search system for parliamentary information. In1999 the Government Offices commissioned their new TRIP-based diary recording system RK-DIA. The system is used by all the ministries and it has a total of nearly 4 000 users in the Government Offices. TRIP is used by a large number of customers in the other Nordic countries and besides Germany, in England, Holland, USA and China as well.
