TietoEnator to deliver operational services for the Sampo Group TietoEnator has made an agreement with the Sampo Group to deliver operational services covering centralised production and server hotel services for the banking and insurance production environments in Finland. The agreement period is to be three and a half years, beginning on 1 April 2001. At the outset of this agreement, 15 Sampo employees in Turku will transfer to TietoEnator as existing employees. Thus a centre focusing on service delivery to Sampo will be created for TietoEnator in Turku. However, the future service will mainly be based on two service centres located in the Helsinki area where each centre will act as a reserve for the other. The IT production operations of the former insurance company Sampo were carried out centrally by SamNet, an internal unit. IT production of the former Leonia was carried out at Tietoleonia, a company co-owned by TietoEnator, with TietoEnator having been responsible for delivering all hardware capacity, as well as most software programmes, required by Leonia. By centralising these services Sampo will obtain synergy benefits both in quality and cost reduction. The long-term agreement also covers extensive co-development projects.
