TietoEnator to install global workstation network for Fortum TietoEnator has been contracted by Nordic energy company Fortum to install all of Fortum's 10,000 workstations and more than 250 office servers worldwide in conformance with Fortum's new workstation standard. Fortum is standardizing its global network of computer workstations by bringing all new and existing workstations and their servers into line with the company's new IT standard. Fortum and TietoEnator have collaborated on projects for a number of years. Besides contracting TietoEnator to supply the new information system, Fortum is also handing over the operation and management of several IT infrastructure systems to TietoEnator. "In this way Fortum is creating a uniform workstation platform for the entire group. The system, based on new technology, will raise efficiency and create a framework for significant savings in lifecycle costs in our workstation environment. Our decision to assign this demanding start-up project to TietoEnator followed a thorough selection process," stated Jouni Keronen, CIO of Fortum. "This agreement gives us at TietoEnator the opportunity to combine our technology and project expertise with our customer-driven way of operating. Our presence in many countries enables us to ensure global consistency in a project such as this while employing local personnel," said Markku Isotupa, Director, TietoEnator.
