Tietoevry’s commitments to Science Based Targets verified
Tietoevry ’s carbon reduction targets have been verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being in line with the level of reduction needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This is an important milestone towards Tietoevry’s ambition of becoming net zero in own operations by 2025.
To highlight the importance of sustainability across its operations, the company has included ESG indicators, CO2 reductions and diversity and inclusion, as part of its incentive program for the management.
”We take it upon ourselves to reduce our own carbon footprint and help our customers and society at large to become more efficient in energy and resource usage. Together we can pave the way towards carbon neutrality with sustainable IT solutions and innovative technology,” says Kia Haring, Head of Communications and Sustainability at Tietoevry.
”Our long-term targets are defined in our Sustainability game plan 2023 – and extended now through our commitments to Science Based Targets. In our sustainability game plan, we have set ambitious targets to achieve net-zero carbon emissions in own operations by 2025, and with the Science Based Targets initiative, we are now expanding our ambitions further in our supply chain. Including ESG aspects also in the company’s remuneration schemes is a concrete step to enforce these ambitions and highlight the importance of sustainability across our operations,” Kia Haring continues.
Tietoevry’s commitments to Science Based Targets:
- to 90% reduction of CO2 emissions in scope 1 and 2 by 2026 from 2020 base-year.
- to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 80% in 2020 to 100% by 2026
- to reduce scope 3 business travel GHG emissions 47% per average full-time employee by 2030 from 2019 base-year
- that 70% of its significant suppliers by emissions, covering purchased goods and services, will have science based targets by 2026.
