With available support for MPEG-4 AVC from the STB through the middleware, IPTV service providers running xDSL networks can expand their service areas, better utilize bandwidth, and improve video quality.

IBC, Amsterdam, Netherlands – (September 8, 2005) – i3 micro technology, a leading provider of IP Television (IPTV) and voice over IP (VoIP) products and solutions, and Minerva Networks, the leading provider of open-platform IPTV delivery solutions, today announced support with i3’s Mood 300 IP Set-top Box (STB) and Minerva Network’s iTVManager middleware application. The advanced MPEG-4 AVC feature of the Mood 300 and the robust capabilities of iTV Manager, which also supports High Definition, Video on Demand, Personal Video Recording and other competitive features, the combined solution will appeal to IPTV service providers interested in delivering the best possible IPTV viewing experience while minimizing the bandwidth load on the network.

"Adding Minerva's middleware solution to i3 Mood 300 IP STB product platform will bring one of the strongest IPTV solutions to the market yet. The combination of MPEG-4 AVC capabilities of the Mood 300 and the competitive features and intuitiveness of the iTVManager interface will open new possibilities for IPTV operators and system integrators,” stated Chris Chalkitis, i3 micro technology ab.

“This relationship is important not only for i3 and Minerva, but also for telcos that are seeking to deploy competitive IPTV services to their subscribers. The open platform model offers the ability to deploy systems tailored to the specific needs of the service provider, especially those running xDSL networks,” continued Mauro Bonomi, CEO of Minerva Networks.

Product demonstrations will take place at the i3 micro technology booth (4.350) during IBC 2005 (9/9-9/12). To schedule a demonstration and briefing contact Michael Volpatt (Michael@larkinvolpatt.com, +1-415-692-0100).
