Unprecedented market growth in college dorms, condos and apartments

BOSTON, Fall VON, Booth #636 — Sept.21, 2005 — i3 micro technology (i3), today announced that PūrDigital™ Networks, Inc. has recently deployed i3’s Triple Play products and solutions for VoIP, IPTV and high-speed Internet access, into Atlanta-area commercial and university high density residential properties. The first of these deployments is to 2,500 students in four select dormitories at a major research university, as well as to over 4,500 residents in more than 50 high-end condominiums and apartment complexes – the first such wide scale deployment in the USA.

PūrDigital provides an extremely high speed connection (OC-12 to Gigabit Ethernet) to a variety of high density residential buildings, then combines that building’s existing Ethernet plant with i3’s Vood IP Residential Gateways and Mood IPTV set-top boxes to deliver a full suite of managed broadband digital services to the tenants, including:

• Ultra High Speed Internet Service – consistently at 10 Mbps and above – better than DSL or cable;
• Voice-over-IP (VoIP) – uncompressed service for extremely high voice quality through i3’s Vood IP Residential Gateways;
• Video Enhanced Voice Service;
• IPTV – capable of delivering a 300+ channel lineup through i3’s Mood IP Set-top Boxes at DVD-like picture quality;
• True Video-on-Demand;
• Ultra High Speed Wi-Fi Service in Common Areas (802.11b,g and a).

Using i3’s Vood Centre Manager to provide centralized, secure auto-provisioning and element management, PūrDigital is able to reduce the cost of provisioning and managing its voice services. Customers get leading leading-edge VoIP solutions at a cost-effective price, and can quickly auto-install the hardware.

“PūrDigital has been very smart to identify and successfully implement services tailored to meet the needs of a quickly growing market in the Atlanta metropolitan area. We are committed to working very closely with them as they continue their geographic expansion during 2006,” noted Gordon Lewandowski, vice president, Americas, i3 micro technology.

“i3 has among the most sophisticed and reliable set-top boxes and most manageable VoIP gateways on the market today,” said Bill Dodd, president, PūrDigital Networks, Inc. “They have been very instrumental in helping us provide converged digital services to subscribers in a cost-effective manner.”

Beginning in early 2006, PūrDigital will deploy these same set of advanced services using i3’s Triple Play products in Charlotte, North Carolina; Orlando; Nashville, Tennesse; South Florida, Tampa, as well as other colleges and universities.
