Brussels, Belgium, 30 September 2008: Tilgin, a leading provider of customer premises equipment solutions for multi-play and next-generation broadband services, today announces at Broadband World Forum 2008 in Brussels new key functionality, Full Service Routing, across its portfolio of Telco Home Gateways. Engineered for multi-play and converged service scenarios, Full Service Routing allows operators to flexibly connect and service multiple IP set-tops, PCs and media devices in the home.

Available to all Tilgin home gateways, Full Service Routing enables service providers to more flexibly and powerfully deploy value added services to and within the home. Currently used solutions often limit the scope, serviceability and flexibility of multi-play services. IP set-tops are usually hard-connected to the gateway and not part of the home network. The result is that content cannot be easily shared between IP set-tops, PCs and media devices. It is also more cumbersome to deploy IPTV services to multiple TVs. Tilgin home gateways with Full Service Routing changes this.

The role of the home gateway as an intelligent service node is increasing as operators look to deliver new value added services (VAS) including IPTV. Servicing multiple TVs at home with more services and applications is a part of their VAS strategy. This however requires advanced routing functionality that Tilgin now delivers in their home gateway solutions.

Ovum Consumer Practice Leader Michael Philpott says, “The ability for consumers to get access to Internet services and applications, as well as personal content such as music, photos and home movies on the TV is becoming more common as consumer electronics vendors add such capability into their devices. Consumer electronics players however often struggle to integrate such content with full TV experience – thus forcing the consumer to switch between applications. IPTV operators can help the consumer bridge this gap, and if provided in a quality experience, can differentiate services over the Internet / consumer electronics based competition, as well as of course other pay-TV operators.”

“Tilgin’s operator managed CPE solutions are designed for service-connecting the home,” says Ola Berglund, Tilgin CEO. “Full Service Routing, which is included in our Home Gateway Application Software, offers operators a key service enabler for expanding their portfolio of broadband services – and a must have for forward-looking IPTV providers.”

Tilgin exhibits and showcases its home gateway and IPTV solutions at BBWF in Brussels on September 30 to October 2 in stand #213. www.iec.org/events/2008/bbwf

Background information to editors:
Tilgin’s Telco Home Gateways serve as intelligent gateways into the home for all IP communications. They provide the powerful and intelligent functionality needed by operators to deliver a broad portfolio of existing and next-generation services to broadband consumers. Engineered as service-rich devices for converged voice, video and data, Tilgin gateways are designed to be an integrated component in a service provider's network, offering zero-touch auto-provisioning, remote management and complete control for the provider. Besides delivering a Telco-grade solution for Voice over IP and high-speed Internet access, they also deliver powerful and advanced gateway capabilities for IPTV and IMS-based services. Tilgin home gateways are available with integrated ADSL2+, fiber and Ethernet connectivity, and include high quality voice support for all leading VoIP back-end systems.

All Tilgin Home Gateways share a common Application Software that allows service providers to easily deploy the same set of services to their broadband customers independent of access type. The gateways are equipped with a complete range of wireless and fixed LAN connectivity, which together with support for UPnP, allows operators to service a growing number of connected consumer devices in the home. Wirespeed routing and advanced QoS handling offer service providers mechanisms that easily cater to different service requirements. All products include support for TR-069 remote management, Voice over IP for analog and ISDN telephones, along with integrated wideband codecs that deliver high definition crystal-clear voice that is much better than over the PSTN. Wireless LAN set-up is made both secure and easy with push-button activated Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS), while WMM and 802.11e deliver Quality of Service (QoS) features and multimedia support to 802.11b/g functionality.
