Tilgin, a leading provider of customer premises equipment for triple play and IMS solutions, has received the 2006 IQPC Broadband Award for the most innovative convergent broadband service or application. This progress award is sponsored by Ericsson and recognizes outstanding achievements in, or contributions to the advancement of next-generation services in the area of broadband convergence. Tilgin won the prize for its Tilgin IMS@Home platform, in competition with co-finalists Thomson and Ninj.

At the Broadband Week Europe 2006 conference in Berlin, Germany, the expert jury and broadband-industry conference delegates awarded Tilgin the prestigious 2006 IQPC Broadband Award. The jury consisted of management-level international experts from different sectors such as Telcos, universities, media and venture capitalists. Key appraisal criterions for the award were the revenue generating potential of the nominated solution, together with creativity, commercial viability and ease of use.

“We are very excited about receiving this prestigious award. It confirms our innovativeness and ability to provide attractive solutions that operators can use to deliver standards-based IMS services into the home. Many fixed and mobile operators are making enormous investments in IMS infrastructures that they need to fully utilize for new broadband services to home subscribers. The Tilgin IMS@Home platform makes this a reality by incorporating advanced IMS functionality into home IP gateways and set-top boxes,” says Jan Werne, CEO at Tilgin.

According to ABI Research, fixed and mobile operators are expected to invest €7.5 Billion in IMS architectures during the next five years. These investments are forecasted to deliver €37.5 Billion in operator revenues during 2011. Last year, ABI Research forecasted that IMS will be a “jet engine that would power telecom markets to a new level”. They feel that this assessment still holds true, and that “IMS is on the verge of commercial reality”.

Making IMS happen
The Tilgin IMS@Home solution fully integrates IMS services within the home. It provides seamless service capabilities across an array of IMS and non-IMS devices and integrates home networks with the provider’s service-enabling IMS network. Comprehensive remote management and flexible deployment options enable operators to extend their presence deep into subscribers’ homes. Automatic remote downloads and dynamic self-provisioning allows seamless upgrades and promotes efficient “up-selling” of new services. And by partnering with leading ecosystem vendors, the Tilgin IMS@Home platform is consolidated into end-to-end IMS solutions that can grow over time.

Tilgin IMS@Home brings IMS services to the home securely, affordably, and with a phased approach that evolves in parallel with IMS. It supports service delivery capabilities for all manner of communications, including fixed and mobile telephony, instant messaging, home media centers, IPTV — both broadcast and on-demand — and vertical applications like home automation, security surveillance and more.
The Tilgin IMS@Home solution allows service providers to deliver an expanded portfolio of personalized and easy-to-use next generation broadband services over an IMS network. It contributes critical CPE functionality for end-to-end IMS deployments.
