Tim Hortons®, the iconic Canadian coffee chain, has announced that all 25 of their UK and Ireland restaurants will close by midnight on Tuesday 24 March due to the current circumstances cause by COVID-19.

All restaurants, drive thrus, and delivery services will end at each restaurant by midnight on Tuesday.

Official statement, “It’s goodbye for now. At Tim Hortons, our priority is the safety and well-being of our teams and our guests, therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to close all Tim Hortons restaurants in the U.K. by midnight on Tuesday 24th March. This is not a decision we are taking lightly, but one made with our teams and our guests in mind. Thank you to our brilliant team members for their hard work during this very challenging time. We look forward to seeing you all again as soon as it is safe for us to reopen.”

The restaurants will be closed on a temporary basis until the government announce it is once again safe for such retail outlets to operate.

Remaining fresh food produce will be donated to local hospitals and food banks where possible in each location.

The Tim Hortons®  brand was founded by its namesake, a top professional ice hockey player, who wanted to create a space where everyone would feel at home. Fast forward to 2019, more than 5.3 million Canadians – approximately 15 per cent of the population – visit the cafés daily.
