Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center Sponsors World Premiere of Compelling New Documentary at the 2014 International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED)
New York (March 18, 2014): America the Beautiful 3: The Sexualization of Our Youth (ATB 3) is the third installment of America the Beautiful. The documentary explores American’s controversial and shameless sexualization of our youth. Theories and observations merely scratch the surface of a culture centered on the objectification of women. Beneath the glossy, perfect images presented in pop culture there are more desperate stakes at hand. Who is at fault for perpetuating such a harmful culture? Is it corporate greed in advertising? Is it the media that projects these images? Could it even by the parents?
Award-winning director Darryl Roberts tackles the complicated answers to these questions, revealing the treacherous effects this has on children and society as a whole. The assault of images portraying the perfect sexy body is inescapable and inappropriate, contributing to a national physical and mental health crisis. According to the American Psychological Association, the impact of this on girls and women of all ages ranges from eating disorders to low self-esteem and body image insecurities. ATB 3 also looks at how boys, some as young as 11 years old, are now raised in a porn culture making it is difficult for them to conceptualize healthy relationships and sexuality - the dangers of this are abundant and increasing.
ATB 3 is not just about the dangers of spray tans and babies in bikinis, it is an examination of the influence of an unquestioned culture and the psyche of society’s most threatening perpetrators who may not consider themselves to be part of the problem.

About Darryl Roberts, Writer, Director and Producer:
Darryl Roberts, President of Sensory Overload Entertainment, is an established writer, producer, and director. He is celebrated in the U.S. and internationally for How U Like Me Now, the highly acclaimed independent film about relationships in the 90′s. More recently, Mr. Roberts wrote and directed the compelling documentary, America the Beautiful, a film that examines our country’s obsession with beauty. The eye-opening sequel, America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments was released in 2010. It exposes the diet industry and weighs in on the raging debate between doctors who say fat it is healthy versus those who disagree. Mr. Roberts also amassed experience in the radio and television industry. He began his career as an on-air personality for radio station WKKC-FM, in Chicago. He used his earnings as a salesman at Seagram’s wine division to produce his own local cable television program entitled Backstage with Darryl Roberts. Then Roberts joined WMAQ-TV’s Sunday morning news program as host of Hollywood Hype, an insider’s look at the entertainment industry. His segment rapidly gained a strong following and was rated among the top entertainment features in Chicago. Mr. Roberts also directed some of Europe’s hottest commercials and music videos. Most notable of the bunch was the music video for Gloria Gaynor’s European comeback titled I Never Knew. Mr. Roberts’ films have received media coverage on CNN, Fox News, Huffington Post and Psychology Today.
