Evutec’s DuPont™ Kevlar® constructed cases will be one of the strongest and thinnest available for the new iPhone models

Walnut, CA., September 22nd, 2014 - Evutec Corporation announced plans to be first to market with Kevlar constructed iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cases. Using advanced composite materials and state of the art manufacturing facilities, the Evutec design team aims to have the new cases available to ship in just four weeks.

Brian Hall, Evutec CEO, commented, “The new iPhone 6 is the most powerful and thinnest iPhone yet. Our Evutec case will protect with DuPont™ Kevlar® strength, but without detracting from Apple’s signature design.”

The Evutec industrial design team has been working non-stop since the new iPhone details were announced. Less than 24 hours after the announcement, Evutec had a design draft of what will soon become the Karbon S and SI for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The new iPhone 6 design, with its larger size, curved edges, bevelled glass and raised camera lens, offers significant design challenges. Evutec will use its unique, 4D thermo forming technique to shape the Kevlar outer shell. All the appropriate case openings are then laser cut to give our customers the best fitting case on the market. Finally the patented five-layer Evutouch scratch resistant coating is applied which increases durability.

Evutec plans to make the new Karbon S (Sleek) case from DuPont Kevlar, which is five times stronger than steel, at the same weight. Kevlar does not contain any metal properties and will not block any GPS, WiFi or cellular signals.  Additionally, the iPhone 6 with a 0.7mm thin Karbon S case is equal to the same thickness as the iPhone 5 device without a case.

The innovative Karbon SI (Sleek Impact) design for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is made with a shock absorbing inner layer, fused with a Kevlar outer shell. “The case will be extremely lightweight, strong, scratch/shock-resistant. It will also be 25 per cent thinner than the previous iPhone 5s Karbon SP series cases, at an incredible 1.5mm thin,” said David Rojas, director of design.

New colours

The new Karbon S and SI for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will coincide with the launch of a range of new color options. The names were selected from protective technologies available in different eras.

• Osprey (Black and Grey)
Black and grey are the colors of the most advanced protective technology used today.

• Kozane (Red and Black)
Inspired by Japanese Samurai scale armor, made of leather and steel from the 11th Century.

• Brewster (Black and Rose Gold)
Based on body armor developed by the US Army, during World War I made of steel and nickel with a rose gold sheen.

• Brigandine (Orange and Orange)
Based on a form of body armor from the Middle Ages, lined with oblong steel plates and riveted to the fabric.

• Kalantar (Rose Gold and Rose Gold)
Inspired by 14th Century Russian armor decorated with gold inlay, decorative patterns and engravings.

• Lorica (Red and Orange)
Based on a hard protective breastplate worn by soldiers in ancient Rome made of leather and steel plates, colours were of chestnut hue and red was preferred by many legions.
