MAHISHA DELLINGER: MAKING WAVES IN THE NATURAL HAIR INDUSTRY

LOS ANGELES (December 27, 2011) - With over a decade of experience in the hair industry, CURLS CEO Mahisha Dellinger has watched her company flourish from a web-based home business to a multimillion dollar empire.

Available in over 3,000 salons around the globe, CURLS is gaining national recognition outside of the hair industry, including award winning publication Sactown Magazine who recently profiled Dellinger’s success as a businesswoman for their 5th year anniversary collector’s issue.

Dellinger’s story began when she became exhausted searching for hair products that work with her ethnic hair type. Product after product, Dellinger finally realized that brands claiming to be the solution for her curly hair were in reality not created with her hair type in mind. While Dellinger constantly scoured the market for products to enhance her natural hair, she found that most only weighed her hair down with heavy ingredients, causing depletion in natural moisture. Instead of giving up, the entrepreneur in Dellinger decided to create her own solution. With a vision in mind, Dellinger sought out a cosmetic chemist to concoct the perfect blend of high quality ingredients including natural Coconut oil, natural Jojoba oil, organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf extract and more. This blend of unique, untouched elements gave birth to CURLS – an innovative and effective hair care line that caters to multi ethnic women everywhere.

Dellinger’s mission to create a hair product unlike any other in the marketplace paid off when CURLS received a rave review in Lucky magazine that resulted in a 30,000 dollar increase in sales that month alone. Soon after, CURLS appeared in a slew of publications and landed a coveted Allure Magazine’s 2011 Best of Beauty Award for their Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste.

Coming a long way since day one, CURLS is now recognized as one of the top hair products in the heavily saturated, multi-ethnic hair care industry – a feat that is commendable in and of itself. Dellinger has gone above and beyond her local roots by empowering women everywhere and allowing them to embrace their natural, beautiful hair. CURLS has even garnered a Hollywood fan base, including curly crooners such as Halle Berry and Ashanti.

Dellinger continues to take CURLS to new heights with her most recent partnership with Target in 2010 to create a budget-conscious retail line. This year, CURLS will be available at other national retailers including CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid. The brand has also expanded into the kids and baby niche with Curly Q’s and It’s A Curl! hair products available online. With all that she has going on; Dellinger still finds time to give back to her community by partnering up with adoption agencies to donate products and leading informational workshops on how to manage multi-ethnic locks. While Dellinger hopes to see all women enjoy their natural hair someday – for now she is taking the industry by storm, one curl at a time.
