New Tokmanni in Virrat – Store offers varied assortment of affordable products

Tokmanni, Finland's largest discount retailer chain, is expanding to its second new location this month by opening a new store in Virrat on Thursday, 28 November 2019 at 8 am. The opening of the Tokmanni store located close to the centre of Virrat will be celebrated with lots of special offers and free buckets filled with product gifts. 

The new Tokmanni in Virrat will open in a lively business location close to the intersection of highway 66 and the Asematie road leading to the city centre. The store will offer a wide assortment of, in particular, beauty, health and wellbeing products, home decoration, cleaning and seasonal products, and yard and garden products. It will also sell clothing, shoes and accessories, non-perishable foods, tools, and leisure, home electronics and entertainment goods, for example.

The store is located in a newly constructed building and has been designed in accordance with Tokmanni's latest store concept, which emphasises effortless and pleasant shopping experiences. It has wide aisles, informative signage and well-defined product areas.

“We are opening the new Tokmanni in Virrat during the very busy Christmas season, which is great news for us and the local residents. The spaciousness of the store means that we can display a delightfully wide assortment of products which are excellent value for money,” says Mathias Kivikoski, Tokmanni’s Sales and Marketing Director.

“We’d like to warmly welcome our customers to do their Christmas shopping in our pleasant, service-oriented store with its varied assortments,” he adds.

The store invests in energy efficiency, by using LED lighting, for example. The new Tokmanni in Virrat has a separate garden department and a recycling point for small waste electrical and electronic equipment. The store also serves as a collection point for items purchased from the online store. The spacious store has about 2,300 square metres of retail selling space.

Plenty of special offers will be available at the new Tokmanni in Virrat from Thursday, the opening day, to the following Sunday. One thousand free buckets filled with product gifts will also be handed out to the first customers on the opening morning.

The Virrat store employs 11 retail sector professionals. It will serve customers under the management of Store Manager Meri Lepistö, on weekdays from 8 am to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 8 am to 8 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm. The address of the new Tokmanni is Asematie 11, 34800 Virrat.

The general discount retailer will be represented at the opening celebrations on Thursday morning by the store’s employees together with Sales and Marketing Director Mathias Kivikoski and Regional Manager Markus Lähteenmäki. Juha Viitasaari, the new mayor of Virrat, will give the opening speech at the event. 

2019 has been a busy year fo Tokmanni 

Tokmanni’s target is to expand its store network to include more than 200 stores and to increase its new retail selling space by approximately 12,000 square metres in net terms every year, which means around five new or relocated stores. The new store in Virrat will increase the number of stores in the Tokmanni general discount retailer chain to 191 around Finland.

This has been a very busy year for Tokmanni. Earlier in the year, Tokmanni opened eight Ale-Makasiini chain stores, two TEX chain stores and one Säästökuoppa store under the Tokmanni brand name, along with new stores in Loppi, in Tesoma, Tampere and in Vääksy. In addition, Tokmanni relocated to new premises in Hanko and Juuka, reopened a refurbished store on Kehräämötie in Kajaani and refurbished and expanded stores in Turenki and Hollola and in the Skanssi shopping centre in Turku. In Siilinjärvi, Tokmanni centralised all of its store operations into the Tokmanni store that has been in operation in the town for many years by closing the Ale-Makasiini located in other premises nearby.¹)
