Tokmanni acquires operations of Ale-Makasiini

Tokmanni has acquired the operations of Ale-Makasiini Matti Riikonen Oy. The operations will transfer to Tokmanni’s ownership as of 1 November 2018 and they comprise the Ale-Makasiini general discount retailer stores, which are well established in their areas, in nine locations (Äänekoski, Suolahti, Viitasaari, Saarijärvi, Laukaa, Siilinjärvi, Pielavesi, Pihtipudas and Kangasniemi). In 2017, the revenue of the general discount retailer that is being acquired was EUR 19.7 million and the operating result was EUR 1.0 million. 

“Geographically, the Ale-Makasiini stores are in excellent locations in relation to Tokmanni’s stores. Tokmanni’s target is to achieve a network of around 200 stores in Finland, and the transaction will enable us to rapidly expand the coverage of our store network in Finland. After the transaction, Tokmanni will have 186 stores. Going forward, our brick-and-mortar stores and online store will together be able to provide an even better service to our customers, as we will be close to our customers almost everywhere,” says Tokmanni’s CEO, Mika Rautiainen. 

The completed transaction will have no impact on Tokmanni’s outlook for the current year.
