Tokmanni, a variety discount retail chain, is opening new stores in Nikkilä in Sipoo in the Helsinki Metropolitan area and Sodankylä in Finnish Lapland on Wednesday 4 December at 8:00 am. The Tokmanni stores, which will be opened in modern, completely new commercial buildings, are spacious and comfortable, and offer a delightfully versatile range of products. In Sodankylä, the new Tokmanni store is more than 3.5 times bigger than its predecessor, which is also reflected in the considerable expansion of the product range. In true Tokmanni style, the store openings will feature plenty of special offers as well as free buckets filled with product gifts.

In Sipoo, the new Tokmanni store opens its doors in a very central business location in the immediate vicinity of the commercial services of the centre of Nikkilä at Jokilaaksontie 1, 04130 Nikkilä. Near the store are also located, for example, an assisted living facility and a daycare centre.

In Sodankylä, which is in Finnish Lapland more than 900 kilometres from Sipoo and the Helsinki metropolitan area, the new Tokmanni is conveniently located in the immediate vicinity of the intersection of the E75 road and Kittiläntie, opposite to the Sodankylä Health Centre, at Karistamontie 1, 99600 Sodankylä. The new store replaces its predecessor, which lacked space and product range to meet the needs of both customers and Tokmanni and was closed at the end of November this year.

The new Tokmanni store offer a comprehensive selection of products focusing on, for example, interior decoration, clothing, detergents and cleaning products, home improvement, various seasons and beauty, health and wellbeing. The Sodankylä store also feature, for example, a shop-in-shop department with footwear from Click Shoes, a shoe chain that joined Tokmanni Group last year. The Nikkilä store also sells selected footwear familiar from Click Shoes.

Like the Tokmanni store that was opened in Söderkulla in Sipoo last spring, the Nikkilä store also include a shop-in-shop department for Miny lifestyle brand. Miny, which is part of Tokmanni Group, offers a diverse range of beauty, wellbeing and interior decoration products and other surprising and interesting things to buy. Similar shop-in-shop departments can already be found in almost 50 Tokmanni stores across Finland.

The new stores have been designed in line with Tokmanni’s newest store concept, which emphasises convenient and pleasant shopping. The stores have plenty of space, around 2,800 square metres in Nikkilä, and around 3,150 square metres in Sodankylä. In Sodankylä, the change to the previous store is significant, as the predecessor had only around 850 square metres of space. In addition, both Tokmanni stores feature a garden department. In Nikkilä, the total size of the garden department and its fenced area is more than 350 square metres. In Sodankylä, the garden department has almost 600 square metres of space.

The new stores in Sipoo, a municipality of more than 22,000 inhabitants, and in Sodankylä, a municipality of more than 8,000 inhabitants, are excellent complements to Tokmanni’s nationwide store network.

“We are very pleased to be able to celebrate our new stores at the same time in Nikkilä in Sipoo and Sodankylä, where a new Tokmanni store has been hoped for a long time. Of course, it’s always great to be able to meet our customer’s wishes,” says Timo Heimo, Vice President, Sales and Supply Chain at Tokmanni.

“We are expanding our Tokmanni offering to Nikkilä in accordance with our customers' expectations. In Sodankylä, on the other hand, our new Tokmanni store is more than 3.5 times bigger than its predecessor. Thanks to its size, we can now offer a lot of products that our customers have hoped for, but we have not been able sell in the small store premises of our previous store,” he adds.

In Nikkilä in Sipoo, customer service is provided by a team of around 15 retail professionals led by Store Manager Johanna Peltomäki. The Nikkilä store will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays, from 8 am to 7 pm on Saturdays and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays.

In addition, Tokmanni has, among other things, expanded and refurbished several of its stores in different parts of Finland.

In the future, Tokmanni will open a new store in, for example, Naantali. The store opening ceremonies of the Naantali store are expected to be held at the beginning of 2026 at the latest.

The store networks of other store chains owned by Tokmanni Group are also being renewed. More information on the subject can be found on the Group’s website.
