Tokmanni has today, 16 March 2020, published its Sustainability Report 2019 on the company website ir.tokmanni.fi/en/sustainability and ir.tokmanni.fi/en/investors/reports-and-presentations.
“In 2019, we made great progress in Tokmanni's corporate responsibility work. We improved social compliance risk management, for example, through our own factory inspections, and through strengthened collaboration with our Shanghai sourcing office. We also continued to improve energy efficiency of our stores, and, changed the electricity supply in all of our stores to renewable electricity. We started working together with the Finnish Red Cross to reduce loneliness and social exclusion and strengthened our efforts to promote a more equal working culture, e.g. by introducing gender-neutral job titles. About these actions and the guiding principles of our sustainability work you can read more in the report,” says Emilia Koski, Tokmanni's Head of Corporate Responsibility.
The report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and for the first time also includes disclosures on climate-related risks in accordance with the TCFD, she adds.
“Regulation and stakeholder expectations regarding sustainability and corporate responsibility are changing rapidly. In the future, we will continue to focus on providing our customers more sustainable choices and informing them in an interesting and understandable way about our responsibility work. At the heart of corporate responsibility of discount retailing is the opportunity to make sustainable choices accessible for all,” Koski sums up.
