Tokmanni will open its renewed store and Motomaxi on Kehräämöntie in Kajaani - the store will have an exceptionally wide selection of products

The renewed Tokmanni store on Kehräämöntie in Kajaani will open on 4 April 2019 at 9 a.m., with a selection that has been increased with thousands of new products. In addition, the Motomaxi new and used motor vehicle dealer and service shop, a part of Tokmanni, has also been renewed. The store openings will include awesome special offers, surprise buckets with product gifts and an auction with Aki Palsanmäki, the well-known auctioneer.
The renewed store is located in the familiar location at Kehräämöntie 20, 87400 Kajaani.
The store’s selection focuses especially on home renovation and leisure products. With the renewal, thousands of new products have been added to the store’s selection, which was already very versatile, including Finnish and internationally well-known brands. The very wide home renovation selection includes painting and lighting products, Kärcher cleaning products for demanding use, McCulloch and Fiskars garden products, Bosch power tools and Würth installation and fastening accessories. The selection also includes a wider variety of work clothing, Pisla home and hardware products and Maler mouldings.
The leisure department has even more products than before for camping, hunting, cycling, exercising and fishing. The store will also sell Chevalier hunting clothes and Haix boots and it will continue to stock CCM, Bauer and Warrior ice hockey equipment for demanding players.
The other departments of the Kehräämöntie Tokmanni offer products familiar from other Tokmanni stores with a wide selection, including dry foodstuffs and beauty, health, wellbeing, home electronics, decoration and cleaning products.
Tokmanni believes that the extraordinarily wide selection will better meet its customers’ expectations.
”We develop our stores with our customers’ wishes in mind. By using space more efficiently at Kehräämöntie in Kajaani, we have been able to add a fantastic number of new products, including tools that meet even demanding needs and products for hobbies and free-time pursuits. We will offer individual new products and product families that are larger than before,” says Mathias Kivikoski, Tokmanni’s Sales and Marketing Director.
“Our selection is so broad that we believe it will attract attention all over Kainuu and even beyond,” Kivikoski says.
To improve customer experience, the placement of product categories has been changed, as has signage and
shop furniture. Customers can now browse various specialty products in several brand-specific areas in the store. The store also has a separate garden department, Veikkaus games and a place to pick up items bought from Tokmanni’s online shop. The store has roughly 4,600 square metres of retail selling space.
The Kehräämöntie store, managed by Juha Rusanen, Store Manager, will be open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
From the opening day on Thursday until Sunday the new Tokmanni will be full of special offers and product presentations. And as usual at Tokmanni openings, the first customers will receive free surprise buckets filled with product gifts. In the opening morning, 500 surprise buckets will be handed out at the Kehräämöntie store. In addition, on the opening day there will be an auction at 2 p.m. in the store with Aki Palsanmäki, the famous auctioneer, and his wife Heli.
Better customer experience also at Motomaxi
Next to the store is Motomaxi, which is part of Tokmanni. It sells a wide range of new and used boats, jetskis, outboard motors, snowmobiles, ATVs, mopeds, motorbikes and other two-wheelers. It also offers gear and equipment, spare parts, and service and repair for these vehicle types.
Founded in 2002, Motomaxi is the official dealer of the following:
- Yamaha outboard motors, jetskis, motorbikes, snowmobiles, ATVs, scooters, snowblowers and generators
- Yamarin ja Yamarin Cross boats
- Suvi and Palta boats
- Mercury outboard motors
- Arctic Cat snowmobiles and ATVs
- Rieju, Derbi ja Aprilia mopeds
- Honda motorbikes.
Like the Tokmanni store, Motomaxi has been refurbished with new store fittings and product stands. The 1,100 square metre retail space will also have a Yamaha shop-in-shop product stand and area.
As before, the personnel comprises four people under Jukka Karjalainen. There will be a large number of special offers at the opening ceremonies.
“Motomaxi is a local store familiar to its customers, selling new and used vehicles. The remodelling will bring its visual appearance closer to the Tokmanni concept. We will also improve the visibility of the brands in our selection,” says Kivikoski.
Tokmanni’s chain will continue to grow and renew
Tokmanni’s target is to increase its store chain to more than 200 stores and to add a net of 12,000 square metres of new retail space every year, which means around five new or relocated stores. Currently, Tokmanni has 188 stores around Finland.
The first half of this year will be very busy for Tokmanni because, in addition to the store openings in Kehräämöntie in Kajaani, the discount chain will also open an expanded and renewed store in Turenki. In the near future, Tokmanni will open a new store in Tesoma, Tampere, and move to new premises in Hanko and Juuka. In addition, before the end of April, Tokmanni will open the eight Ale-Makasiini chain stores it acquired late last year under the Tokmanni chain brand. In the near future, also during the first half of this year, the TEX chain store in Kemijärvi and the Säästökuoppa chain store in Sodankylä, now owned by Tokmanni, will also be opened under the Tokmanni brand.
Earlier in the spring, Tokmanni opened a former TEX chain store under the Tokmanni brand in the centre of Rovaniemi. In addition, in mid-March Tokmanni centralised all of its store operations in Siilinjärvi into the Tokmanni store that has been in operation in the town for a long time by closing the Ale-Makasiini located in other premises.
During the autumn, Tokmanni will expand its store network to two new locations, Vääksy and Virrat.¹)
