Ex-Nuffield Health director joins Medicals Direct

Medical services solutions provider Medicals Direct has recruited an ex-Nuffield Health director to help steer a key division of the Group through a new phase of expansion following a series of takeovers.

Charles Percy has been appointed Managing Director, MDG Healthcare, with the key objective of ensuring the Group and its many clients derive maximum benefit from the recent acquisitions, including Company Health and Milligan & Hill. 
 
He will focus on integrating the newly acquired companies and their additional services – which include occupational heath, physiotherapy, specialist ergonomics and rehabilitation – as well as taking responsibility for ongoing business development.
 
“This is an exciting and fascinating challenge for me,” says Charles. “Medicals Direct has increased its turnover by 50% over the last 6 months through a number of carefully targeted takeovers, and we feel there is a great opportunity to capitalise on our leading market position in medical services.
 
“My years at Nuffield Health, particularly the task of creating and expanding its national physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, provided the perfect grounding for this role. My next role as Commercial Director further developed my understanding of the healthcare market. Most recently, a shorter assignment devising and implementing a new business strategy for an occupational health and rehabilitation company added further insight.”  
 
The appointment of Charles and several other senior executives is evidence that Medicals Direct intends to continue growing, both organically and through further carefully considered acquisitions. This growth strategy was instigated soon after the senior management of Medicals Direct, backed by venture capital, bought the group from its American owners in 2007.
 
“We are serious about growth and will be looking at more acquisition opportunities in the future,” asserts Medicals Direct CEO Mike Benton. “Charles has the business administration acumen and healthcare experience to help us reap rewards from the businesses already in the Group and to identify suitable future additions.
