A one-year journey around the World seeks candidates for 2019

The selection process for the 2nd edition of World Life Experience started on April

Portugal (Lisbon), April 10th, 2018 - In January this year, World Life Experience started the first worldwide trip that will take eleven participants over three continents; they are now ready to start the application process for the 2nd edition.

From the beginning of April until July 20th of 2018, World Life Experience will receive applications from anyone interested in participating in a one-year journey around the world; in this edition, it will take them to all five continents. There will be 20 international destinations in the 2nd edition - Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Portugal, Spain, Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and South Africa – where the next eleven travellers will get to know different societies and cultures, while they do volunteer work in local non-governmental organizations (NGO) of different countries. Each participant will receive a monthly wage (2.500 euros), paid by World Life Experience, who will also cover all expenses of the trip.

As António Dias, the head of World Life Experience affirms “the first edition, with already two months of travel and work done, is a success and a great life experience for the group of eleven participants." He continues: "The group has been in six different cities in five countries, and worked on reforestation, permaculture projects geared toward environmental sustainability, participated in workshops with refugees and cooperated in reconstruction projects. As the participants interact with people from the places they go, they become aware of the social, environmental and cultural diversity that exists in the world”.

For all those eager to travel the world, contribute to the planet through socially responsible attitudes and actions and who aim to participate in social transformation, this is the “best job of the world”. Applications, which can be made at www.worldlifeexperience.com, have a 9 euro fee, which part of this amount (2.5 euros) going to the NGOs associated to World Life Experience.

Selection of the eleven participants for the 2nd edition will be carried out by an independent entity, a center for management studies and scientific organization (CEGOC), which is an arm of the European training and development group (CEGOS) dedicated to the areas of training, consultancy and recruitment. Applicants must be between 21 and 39 years of age and meet a specific profile - be responsible, empathetic, thoughtful, tolerant, communicative, proactive, flexible, know English to at least intermediate level and wishes to work as a group. The participants chosen for the 2nd edition, will be of different nationalities and will share their experience of the journey on social media.

The total stay in each city will be for two weeks and will involve a program oriented towards social work, through integration with local organizations (NGOs), and a leisure component aimed at tourism and cultural activities. The 11 participants, from the 2nd edition of the World Life Experience, will be on their journey from January 15th to November 27th, 2019, and will have 6 days to explore each city, 6 days to volunteer with local organizations and 3 free days to rest in each destination.

About the World Life Experience selection process

The selection process is divided into 5 stages:

  •  1st – Registration will be open from the beginning of April until July 20th, 2018.
  •  2nd – The application fee (9€), of which 28% (2,5€) will be donated (there are more than 50 international non-governmental organizations that will receive donations) at the end of June 2018.
  •  3rd – On confirmation of payment, World Life Experience will send the candidates instructions and details on how to access the three surveys, indispensable for completing the candidacy profile – one concerns personal data, another asks about voluntary work and group conduct, and there’s a third on logic. At this stage there is also a test to assess their English proficiency. The results will be communicated on July 31, 2018.
  •  4th – This stage is divided into two phases (a psychological evaluation test and a self-promotion video) before the Skype interview. The candidates will be notified individually on August 30th if they have been approved for the interview phase (to take place between September 1st and 20th, 2018)
  •  5th – The interviews results will be communicated by September 30th, 2018, precede the individual qualification phase for each candidate.
  •  On September 30th, 2018, the eleven participants of the World Life Experience 2nd edition will be informed, individually, before the list of names is published on www.worldlifeexperience.com.  
  •  Their journey will start on January 15th, 2019.
