AP Racing pulls back the cover on unique sliding pedal box

AP Racing has unveiled the CP5538, a brand new and unique pull-type sliding pedal box. This optimised design is AP Racing’s solution to complying with the potential new safety regulation of a fixed driver seat in GT Racing, allowing for the accommodation of drivers of different height in the same car and therefore maximising driver comfort.

Incorporating a brake, clutch and throttle pedal similar to AP Racing’s CP5516-88 model, the CP5538 pull-type design allows for the pushrod to remain straight, eliminating all sides loads making it the most efficient pedal box on the market.

The pedal box also features a lightweight aluminium base, which along with all the pedals are machined from solid billet. The brake pedal is pivoted by ball bearings to increased smoothness.

Adjustable elements of the pedal box include the foot pads, adjustable for extra comfort, the throttle pedal position (linkage with a gas spring for positive pedal return) as well as the pedal stops on the clutch and throttle. The brake and clutch pedal ratio is 4.8:1, and the adjuster cable CP2905-33 is included.

The pedal box is mounted in two low friction, linear bearing rails which provide 180mm of adjustment with 19 fixed positions. The cylinders are mounted under the driver’s feet for optimum space utilisation and access. Minimum hysteresis and balance variation are assured by the use of needle roller bearings in the centre trunnion.

As with all of AP’s Racing products, the CP5538 pedal box has been developed to the quality approval standards of the ISO/TS 16949, helping ensure their performance and improving driver safety and confidence.

AP Racing’s products are available from distributors across the UK, while product information and technical guidance are available direct from AP Racing. Please call the technical department on +44 (0) 24 7663 9595 or visit www.apracing.com.
