  • MP for Bury St Edmunds visits Bosch Lawn and Garden manufacturing facility
  • Bosch is one of the constituency’s largest employers
  • Recently awarded £1.18 million investment from the Regional Growth Fund
  • Stowmarket plant produces high value cordless and electric garden tools

Bosch Lawn & Garden welcomed Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds, to its Stowmarket plant recently to learn about how the newly-awarded Regional Growth Fund will be used to generate high value engineering jobs to create further innovative products. In particular, this involves further advances in cordless robotic mowers and professional cordless garden tools.

Jo Churchill was hosted by Stuart Briscoe, General Manager of Bosch Lawn & Garden, and met members of the manufacturing team. She was also shown examples of Bosch’s product development work and learned how global exports from the company support UK PLC.

Bosch’s Stowmarket site employs around 360 people to produce advanced garden tools, with a particular focus on high technology cordless appliances. One of the topics of discussion was Bosch’s new PRO range of cordless garden tools, giving equivalent performance to petrol tools whilst significantly reducing vibration and noise with zero emissions. These tools are ideal for use by councils to maintain public areas such as hospitals, libraries, schools and cemeteries to improve the wellbeing of their employees while reducing the environmental impact of their operations.

Stuart Briscoe said: “Bosch is a significant employer in Stowmarket and we will be growing the business further by recruiting additional engineers as we expand into these new technology areas. The Regional Growth Fund award, which we received recently, will help us to continue to develop and grow our business.

“During the visit it was clear that Mrs Churchill is a strong supporter of Bosch’s role in the local community and we look forward to working together in the next few years to optimise our contribution to the local area, the company and the country’s export market.”

Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds, said: “I was delighted to visit Bosch Lawn & Garden in Stowmarket. It is a leading employer in the area and a great part of the local economy. I was keen to understand how their recently won Growth Fund will be used.  Generating high value, high skilled jobs in this area is a key ambition of mine and I am delighted that Bosch is leading the way.
