BYD Auto Europe, the fast developing supplier of pure electric buses, is discussing areas of mutual co-operation with Iran's largest bus maker, AKIA ULTRA.

Following constructive meetings in Turkey this week with BYD senior management, the Chairman of AKIA ULTRA, Mazaher Naseri is to visit BYD's HQ in Shenzhen China next month.

Mr Naseri commented: "We believe there is tremendous potential for pure electric buses - cities across the world share the need to improve air quality on their streets. We are convinced that BYD has a world leading battery technology and we are excited about the prospects for possible cooperation."

Following the talks this week, Isbrand Ho, Managing Director of BYD Auto Europe, said: "We are delighted with this development. We know we have outstanding technology with market leading range and durability - trials in 42 European cities have demonstrated that. Now we are actively looking for partners and AKIA UTR maybe just one of a number we can work with, to anticipate the surging demands in the coming months."

AKIA ULTRA has a production capacity of 1,500 buses a year, more than many better known competitors in Western Europe.
