CUMMINS QSK19 POWERS NEW JOHN DEERE 8000 SERIES SELF-PROPELLED FORAGE HARVESTER MODELS
Cummins 620 kW QSK19 holds the highest output for a 6-cylinder engine in the Agriculture Market as displayed at Agritechnica
Columbus, Ind. (5th November, 2015) – Cummins QSK19 engines will power two of the new models in John Deere’s innovative 8000 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters lineup – the 8700 and 8800. The most powerful machine, the 8800 will be displayed at AGRITECHNICA, Hannover, Germany, 8th – 14th November, at the John Deere stand, Hall 13, E30. Offering up to 620 kW (832 hp), the forager provides the highest output for a 6-cylinder inline engine in the agricultural market.
Made in Zweibruecken, Germany, the new forage harvesters offer more productivity, increased uptime, decreased cost of operation and are designed with the latest harvesting technology. The 8700 and 8800 machines provide 563 kW (755 hp) and 620 kW (832 hp) respectively, powered by a Cummins QSK19 engine, without exhaust aftertreatment.

Due to their longitudinal engine layout, the new foragers feature an improved airflow through the entire machine, resulting in lower cooling requirements and more power for chopping, even when the engine is working hard to reach a high power output. At the same time the lowered engine position provides an improved overall center of gravity and enhanced visibility. This helps to improve stability when working on steep slopes or while travelling on the road at speeds of up to 40kph.
Initially designed for extreme duty cycles in mining applications, the QSK19 holds deep reserves of strength ready for when it is needed to ensure instant response as the harvesting gets tougher. This inherent power capability provides forage harvesters the ability to continuously chop high-quality silage for extremely long hours under the most challenging field conditions.

The new models provide forage producers with a more efficient cost of operation with improved fuel efficiency – up to 6 percent (gallons per ton) in corn and up to 15 percent (gallons per ton) in grass. When packaged alongside the stronger design and higher horsepower performance, these machines will provide years of reliable service.
The 8000 series is made at the John Deere Werke Zweibruecken (JDWZ) facility in Germany. Zweibruecken recently celebrated 150 years as a farm equipment manufacturing facility. The Seymour Engine Plant in the USA began production of the QSK19 for the new forage harvester 8700 and 8800 in September, 2015. QSK19 engines have powered John Deere self-propelled forage harvesters since 2009. Cummins will showcase a complete range of power at Agritechnica - Hall 17 Stand C36.
