Wastecycle, the Nottingham-based resource management and recycling company, has taken delivery of seven new Euro-6 DAF LF 14- and 18-tonne skip-loaders. The company describes DAF’s LF product as ‘the perfect skip truck’. The two LF 210 FA 14-tonners and five 18-tonne LF 220 FAs follow similar DAF deliveries in September last year – all supplied through DAF Dealer, Imperial Commercials in Derby.

All vehicles come with with DAF MultiSupport Repair & Maintenance to be carried out by DAF Dealers Imperial Commercials in Nottingham and Ford & Slater in Leicester.

“The DAF LF is the perfect skip truck,” said Andy Sharp, Transport Operations Manager, “short-wheel-base, auto gear-box, a simple uncluttered chassis for the bodybuilder – it’s just an exacting specification that suits our purpose precisely.”

The 14-tonne LFs are fitted with Atlas Cayvol skip-loader bodywork, the 18-tonners with Power-reach skip-loaders from Boughton. All are equipped with a range of safety equipment including reverse and nearside cameras, audible reverse warning, wheel-nut safety indicators, grille-mounted LED beacons, Cycleminder monitors and Side Scan technology.

“DAF’s excellent product credentials are already well-proven at this company,” added Sharp, “but it is DAF’s aftersales support that goes from strength-to-strength. It’s a DAF culture that seems to run right through everything they do – from Leyland Trucks onwards. I visited the assembly plant as part of DAF’s Building Britain celebrations last year,” he said, “and the sense of pride was evident right across the factory floor. That passion for the brand extends to the back-up we receive from DAF and Imperial Commercials – I can’t fault it.”

The new DAF fleet has just gone into service in the Nottingham and Leicester area, collecting a mixture of construction, inert and industrial waste, and along with recyclables. Wastecycle’s total fleet now extends to 60 vehicles.
