- DAF CF290 FAG 26t Euro 6 with Dennis Eagle Olympus refuse collection body
- DAF LF 16t with refuse collection NTM body (in outside exhibition area)

  • DAF works closely with body builders and provides perfect platforms for specialist applications in recycling and waste management sector

DAF is exhibiting three specialised applications for the recycling and waste management sector at the RWM show at the NEC, Birmingham from 16 to 18 September 2014.

The new DAF LF road sweeper with Johnston body and new DAF CF with a refuse collection body are on the DAF stand (in hall 5, stand no: T90), while there is also a new DAF LF refuse collection vehicle in the outside exhibition area, all showing how DAF works closely with body builders in any industry to tailor its models to provide the perfect platform for their specific requirements.

The new DAF LF250 18 tonne road sweeper is equipped a Johnston VT801 body and is one of 51 new DAF LF 16 tonne and 18 tonne road sweepers currently entering service with Go Plant Ltd. The dedicated LF sweeper chassis comes with special chassis packaging that includes a back-of-cab, upright exhaust system that not only meets the most stringent emissions requirements ever set, but also still leaves space for the sweeper bodywork. The batteries, AdBlue tank and fuel tank are all mounted to allow easy fitment of the body and the sweeper brushes.

The DAF CF290 FAG 26 tonne rigid on display is equipped with a Dennis Eagle Olympus refuse collection body. The FAG configuration is a 6x2 with twin steering axles for excellent manoeuvrability and minimum wear to the road surface, whilst maximising payload and loading tolerance across the vehicle. DAF can offer the CF 26 tonne refuse collection chassis in a range of configurations including FAG 6x2 twin steer, the FAT 6x4 double-drive for maximum traction and the FAN 6x2 rear steer for maximum manoeuvrability and the smallest possible turning circle.

There will also be a new DAF LF 16 tonne refuse collection vehicle fitted with an NTM body in the outside exhibition area. This 16 tonne LF is proving a popular choice in many fleets because of its compact size and tight turning circle that means it’s easy to operate on the narrowest roads and in the most confined spaces. Combined with a low tare weight this makes the LF a practical and cost effective alternative to a narrow track 18 tonner.

DAF can also offer trucks for applications as diverse as road sweepers, gulley emptiers, refuse collection, recycling vehicles, gritters and road maintenance. Whatever the operation DAF always has the right solution.

Distinguished by a new exterior and interior, the new DAF range has PACCAR’s latest engines with Euro 6 compliant emissions which are also more economical and efficient to run for applications as diverse as road sweepers, gulley emptiers, refuse collection, recycling vehicles – and more.

Jim Brand, DAF UK’s Municipal Sales Manager commented: “The RWM show is an important show and a great opportunity for DAF to showcase how it tailors its vehicles to any customer’s needs. The recycling and waste management sector is an important one for DAF, and another where the value for money, reliability and efficiency of the DAF range provide a winning combination.”
