  • DAF Trucks recruits three new Aftersales Executives
  • Aftersales Director, Nigel Beckett, goes full circle
  • Long-serving Malcolm Pritchard and Dick Makin retire
  • “…face-to-face customer contact performs a key role in our support portfolio,” Service Director, John McMenamin

DAF Trucks has bolstered its Aftersales service offering with the appointment of three new, highly-experienced field executives. Mark Dimmick and Andrew Grigor join DAF Trucks as Regional Aftersales Managers for the South-West and the Midlands & Eastern regions respectively. Earlier this year, Ross Taviner was appointed as Regional Aftersales Manager for London and the South-East.

Andrew Grigor and Mark Dimmick are recruited with a wealth of commercial vehicle industry experience and, importantly, specific knowledge of the customer base in their corresponding territories. They replace two highly experienced, long-serving retirees – Malcolm Pritchard and Dick Makin, themselves highly regarded individuals in the Aftersales market.

DAF Trucks is also delighted to confirm the appointment of Nigel Beckett as Aftersales Director. With a 100% focus on customer care, Nigel began his career as a vehicle technician before joining DAF Trucks in an Aftersales role. Following rapid progression through the ranks, Nigel’s sales skills were soon recognised and a move to Sales Operations soon resulted in an appointment to Fleet Sales Director. Nigel’s commitment to customer care, however, means his latest promotion to Aftersales Director was inevitable.

In terms of coverage and the systems it has in place, the DAF dealer network is widely recognised as the benchmark support organisation in the UK truck industry. Service Director, John McMenamin, felt it crucial, therefore, to support the status of the DAF network with the very highest calibre people.

“It’s about ensuring we deliver the DAF difference,” said John, “Our customers appreciate that, through our dealer network, DAF provides the very best service support. Yes, our Dealers bring the vast majority of issues to a successful conclusion, but, as our new Regional Aftersales Managers, Mark, Andrew and Ross are there to provide another layer of support. Thanks to their local knowledge,” he said, “we boast strength-in-depth at a regional level where it matters most – with the guys able to deal with any issues face-to-face where appropriate. That face-to-face customer contact performs a key role in our support portfolio.”

Mark Dimmick joins DAF Trucks from MAN Truck & Bus UK after having cut his teeth for 18 months as a Technical Trainer in the company’s in-house training school. Mark then spent 9½ years in MAN’s used truck division, MAN TopUsed, negotiating vehicle return conditions and overseeing preparation of used vehicles prior to resale. Andrew Grigor boats ‘customer experience’ and is appointed after spending his career-to-date in the logistics sector, firstly with DHL and latterly with Tesco Distribution where he undertook engineering projects on new technologies and initiatives.

Ross Taviner, appointed Regional Aftersales Manager for London and South-East, is recruited from local DAF dealer in Guildford, Barnes DAF, where he had impressed as a Service Manager. Previously, Taviner had served for 15 years with Iveco franchise dealer, Hendy Group.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to Malcolm and Dick as they enter retirement,” added John McMenamin, “However, we have to look forward and I am very excited for the future; I’m delighted to have Mark, Andrew and Ross on board. We don’t often recruit from outside the company, but their impressive CVs are supported by their clear customer focus and it’s a combination that will see us consolidate DAF’s position in the after-market.”
