August 2015 sees DAF Trucks Ltd. maintain its unbroken 20year run as UK market leader for commercial vehicle registrations above six tonnes. The milestone is reached as DAF Trucks continues its dominance of the UK market this summer with a 29.2% share of the market in July bringing about a year-to-date figure of 27.4%.

In 1994, Iveco led the UK market with a share of 19.2%; just 0.1 percentage points ahead of DAF. However, by August 1995 DAF Trucks topped the charts and ended the year with a market leading position of 21.1%. Two decades later and DAF Trucks has consolidated its position by growing its market share even further.

DAF Trucks Managing Director, Ray Ashworth, said, “I really believe that providing an exceptional level of service to our customers has contributed to our market leading position.

“Over the years we have developed solid and trusted business relationships with our customers through our 131 dealer locations across the UK, and and every one of them has embraced the DAF ideology of providing the highest levels of service support. It gives us strength in depth and it’s a formidable combination.” he said.

DAF Trucks LF, CF and XF product range continues to provide the three key ingredients for any truck operator; reliability, durability and productivity, and this has been recognised through the Motor Transport Fleet Truck of the Year Award which DAF has won 16 times since its launch and 11 times in the last 20 years.

“We know we have a fantastic product range,” added Ray, “and, through the DAF Transport Efficiency programme, I believe we now have a brand that is as desirable as any in the market. There have been many product developments over the past 20 years, and today’s Euro-6 DAF is at the forefront of commercial vehicle technology, but,” he said, “it’s the DAF culture of care that has remained a constant theme throughout.”
