Equipe GTS race series nominated as a finalist for the International Historic Motoring Awards 2015

October 27, 2015: The Equipe GTS historic racing series is delighted to announce that it has been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious International Historic Motoring Awards, to be presented at a gala dinner at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel on 19th November.

The nomination is in recognition of all the hard work that the Equipe GTS series has done to develop close, value-for-money- historic motorsport, delivering expanding grids on some of the UK’s best circuits. Equipe GTS is for smaller engined cars, built to FIA Appendix K specification, and features marques such MG, Triumph, TVR, Lotus, Austin-Healey and many other makes and models of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

John Pearson, who jointly runs the series alongside fellow driver, Rob Cull, says: “We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in these awards, as it is the ultimate recognition of the huge market that exists for historic motorsport that can be enjoyed on a manageable budget, combined with a fun, social ‘club’ feel. The racing is close and competitive and rounds take place on many of the great circuits that competitors enjoy driving on”.

Equipe GTS was re-launched and revitalised for 2015 after the consolidation of two separate series which were competing head on.

In 2015 he series offered a nine event calendar featuring four races with the MG Car Club and four races with Aston Martin Owners Club and one overseas event at Spa during the prestigious ‘Spa Six Hours’ weekend. In excess of 130 drivers are now registered and grids in excess of 40 cars are typical.
