  • Fiskens presents a wonderfully curated collection of some of the world’s finest automobiles at Salon Rétromobile this week
  • Incredible 1970 Escuderia Montjuich Ferrari 512M wows the crowds alongside historic 1966 Bizzarrini Competition Lightweight Coupe and sublime 1948 Alfa-Romeo 6C 2500 Competition Coupé

Fiskens, the world’s leading purveyor of fine automobiles, has once again unveiled a sublime collection of newly consigned cars at Rétromobile in Paris, Europe’s premier classic car show. The 14 cars on display form the focal point of Fiskens’ early 2016 collection, and probably form the finest selection of historic motor cars to be offered anywhere in Europe. The cars were unveiled at the show’s preview evening and stunned visitors with a combined motorsport heritage that includes significant period entries in the Le Mans 24hrs, Sebring, Daytona, the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio.

A highlight of the stand is the stunning 1970 Ferrari 512M. The Ex-Escuderia Montjuich car is a two-time veteran of Le Mans, as well as the Daytona 24-Hours, the Tour de France and the Buenos Aires and Paris 1000 Kilometre races. Heralding from one of the greatest and most romantic periods in sports car racing history, the Ferrari 512M was Ferrari’s fearsome response to the increasing dominance of the Porsche 917, and it is without doubt one of the most iconic racing Ferraris of all-time. Chassis #1002 has an incredible racing provenance, driven by names such as Juncadella and Fernandez, and taken to a 192mph Land Speed Record in 1976 by Derek Bell. Preserved in long-term ownership and offered for the first time publically, this is a car to ‘wow’ enthusiasts across the world.

The 512M is perfectly complemented on the Fiskens stand by other great sports racing cars of different post-war periods. The 1966 Bizzarrini Competition Lightweight Coupe, is a highly significant example with double Le Mans as well as Targa Florio and Monza history; the 1990 Porsche 962C is no less than Derek and Justin Bell’s 1992 Le Mans entrant; the Porsche 934 RSR Turbo ran at Le Mans on three occasions; the Ferrari 512 BB, is an ex-Ecurie Francorchamps example and a veteran of the 1978 Le Mans and the 1976 Alfa-Romeo Tipo 33/2B Daytona Coupé, is a podium-finishing Autodelta entrant in the great American endurance race. Furthermore, the 1961 Jaguar E-Type ‘Lightweight’, acquired by Fiskens last year on behalf of a client, hustled the Ferrari 250 GTOs in the 1962 12 Hours of Sebring in the hands of Briggs Cuningham and John Fitch; and the exquisite 1948 Alfa-Romeo 6C 2500 Competition Coupé is one of three cars built by the Alfa Romeo racing department and is a four time Mille Miglia entrant (third overall in 1949) and a triple Targa Florio entrant, including second overall in 1949.

Single-seat racing cars also feature in the collection. Joining the previously announced ex-Ickx, Bell and Brambilla 1968 Ferrari Dino 166/246 Tasman and F2 car, is a Formula One technical tour-de-force; a 1982 Lotus 91/7. Looking incredible in the Rétromobile display with its evocative black and gold livery, the chassis presented was entered by John Player Team Lotus for Nigel Mansell to contend the 1982 FIA World Championship and finished 3rd in the Brazilian Grand Prix that year.  As the first Lotus to feature active suspension and carbon brakes, the car is a significant, landmark design in Formula One history.

For road or track, what could be better than the 1953 HMW Jaguar? A perfect entry for the Goodwood Revival, this particular car was a podium finisher in the Freddie March Trophy in 2015. However, whilst competition cars are a hallmark of Fiskens, the company also specialises in the very best road-going sports cars. The Rétromobile collection is graced by a super-rare, 1967 Ferrari 356 California Spyder, one of only 14 produced by the factory, and which is presented in fully restored, Ferrari Classiche-certified condition.

Retromobile takes place from 3-7 February, 2016, and features 450 exhibitors over 46,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space. More details can be found at: www.retromobile.com
