Stadco, the leading international supplier of body-in-white products and services to the automotive industry, has received a Gold award from the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in recognition of excellence in occupational health and safety standards.

The award, which was presented to Stadco representatives at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Tuesday, recognises commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Judges considered entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems and practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Stadco has reduced accident rates by 30 per cent year-on-year since 2011, and in turn reduced days lost as a result of injury by 90 per cent. Despite this strong performance, Stadco is aiming for a zero-harm business, so invests in an ongoing continuous improvement programme for health and safety.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “Organisations such as Stadco Ltd that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”

Chris Fisher, Managing Director of Stadco, said: “I would like to personally thank the environmental health and safety team for their commitment to this essential part of the business and for successfully delivering and driving forward initiatives which have contributed significantly to the overall improvement in our health and safety culture.

“Ensuring safety at work is an ongoing challenge, especially in a manufacturing environment, but as a company it is our top priority and we are pleased this has been recognised by such a prestigious name in health and safety.”
