Stadco, the leading international supplier of body-in-white products and services to the automotive industry, has been busy at its Powys site over the last month, with two events for employees, supporting their own wellbeing and that of the people in their local community.

Employees across Stadco’s four UK sites participated in Business in the Community’s Give & Gain Day which took place this year on Friday 15 May. Stadco Powys supported Mencap Llanfyllin by clearing their grounds so they have more space for outdoor activities. They will use the extra space in the garden area to grow their own vegetables and plant flowers. It will also be used for recreational activities such as playing badminton and having outdoor lunch breaks.

Mencap Llanfyllin provides a day service for local adults with a learning disability who are rurally isolated and gives service users the opportunity to socialise and learn new skills as well as to maintain and develop existing skills. Stadco will also be arranging a follow-up visit to its plant for Mencap members who are interested in the automotive industry.

The Give & Gain Day was preceded by a wellbeing day for employees, an event which aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise people’s awareness of how certain lifestyle choices can have a huge impact on their health. The event focussed on six areas: healthy living, allergy awareness, stress management, musculoskeletal health, alcohol misuse and smoking. Stadco Powys employees had the opportunity to race their colleagues to make a smoothie on smoothie bikes, play darts wearing beer goggles to demonstrate the impact of alcohol, test their core strength on a balance board and have their cholesterol levels tested.

Neil Davies, Plant Manager at Stadco Powys, said: “With the automotive industry continuing to grow, Stadco is busier than ever. But while this is of course good news, as a company we’re committed to ensuring that the people who support us in this success aren’t forgotten. The Give & Gain and wellbeing days are just two examples of internal initiatives we run to support our employees and the communities we all live and work in.

“Both of these events were really well received and we would like to thank everyone for participating so enthusiastically to make them a success.”
