Toshiba TEC ‘feels unique’ as it wins ‘Printing and Labelling in the Supply Chain’ at the Logistics Business IT Awards

One of the highlights of the logistics calendar is the Logistics Business IT Awards which recognise the achievements of individuals and companies operating within manufacturing, logistics and supply chain technology and reward personal technical innovation, engineering, advancement and commercial acumen.

This year Toshiba TEC fought off stiff competition to scoop the Printing and Labelling in the Supply Chain Award for its work with partner, Paperuk.com, and their client, Feel Unique.

Feel Unique ships two million parcels a year – the equivalent of over 38,000 a week – and in the run up to Christmas this figure reaches 100,000 per week.

With these large quantities Lancashire based Paper UK, a partner of Toshiba TEC, recommended a Toshiba Duplex Thermal Print Solution to feelunique.com as it was clear that it would deliver significant time and cost saving benefits to their business operation and still allow them to keep pace with their operation demands.

The compact, rugged and robust DB-EA4D dual label printer proved to be the best product for the job and offers a low cost environmentally friendly solution for applications requiring dual output.  The product was installed prior to the Christmas 2014 season, enabling Feel Unique to work through the whole period with a streamlined efficient way without any problems.

Although the cost of introducing the fleet of DB-EA4D printers was not a significant factor in the procurement process, Feel Unique is now enjoying some considerable savings.  These include savings of around £50,000 per year on material costs alone and savings of approximately £10,000 per year on maintenance and support.

Becky Viccars, Toshiba TEC’s Marketing Manager, stated, ‘We are thrilled to have won this coveted award.  It is a testament to the combined effort and commitment of all 3 organisations – Toshiba, Paperuk.com, and Feel Unique during the past 12 months.”.
