Toshiba TEC’s master’s degree wins Best Sales Programme accolade at the Training Journal Awards 2015
Toshiba TEC, the leading imaging solutions provider, is celebrating after its pioneering master’s degree beat off stiff competition to win the Best Sales Programme accolade at the Training Journal Awards 2015. The event took place on 25thNovember at The Brewery in London, where over 550 sponsors, guests and finalists gathered to celebrate best practice in learning and development, and to recognise the very best in the field.
Since launching in 2006, the Training Journal Awards have continuously grown in popularity as a way of recognising excellence in organisational learning and development. In the Best Sales Programme category, the esteemed judging panel considered entries from companies including Yell, Britvic Soft Drinks, Growth Engineering & Azlan, Legal Island and PGT Healthcare, and examined how their initiatives make a positive and measurable difference.
In declaring Toshiba TEC the winner, the judges unanimously recognised the way in which the company’s MSc in Professional Practice in Leading Sales Transformation helps individuals from the company's dealer channel improve their sales strategies, better connect with their customers, build strong brands, shape their offerings and create long-term growth.
Launched in early 2014, the global sales performance improvement company, the course provides insight into modern sales management techniques, so that students can apply this knowledge in their day-to-day activities and drive up profit. Delivered in conjunction with Middlesex University's Institute of Work Based Learning, it provides a unique opportunity for senior personnel in the document management sector to gain academic recognition.
Students are expected to dedicate four hours a week over the duration of the course to complete five modules and submit a 3,000 word report on each, and write a 12,000 word dissertation. The course content is based on the principle of reflective practice – the capacity to reflect on action(s) so as to engage in a process of continuous learning, which is one of the defining characteristics of professional activity. It teaches how to produce results through others and translate the goals of a company into commercial strategies.
The teaching has proven to be highly effective. Participating Toshiba TEC channel partners have achieved twice as much growth in the last year compared to those who have so far abstained. This level of success has incentivised Toshiba TEC to create a new sales development programme that will be aimed at both experienced and new sales people to provide a similar transformative approach.
Carl Day, Sales Director at Toshiba TEC and the implementer of the MSc in Professional Practice in Leading Sales Transformation is understandably proud of this achievement and the award: ‘The decision to introduce the course was a direct result of Toshiba TEC’s commitment to increasing the professionalism of its industry, to maintain sustainable strategic relationships with its partners, and a desire to make a positive impact through people, education and development. I’m particularly pleased that it gives senior sales personnel from some of our leading channel partners a wonderful opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and I hope that we can enrol more of these talented individuals on the course over the years to come.’
