The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is strengthening the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters’ campaign and moves towards Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs) with “Meaningful Travel” campaign to help travelers to visit Thailand with good conscience.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Stockholm office, together with an award-winning social enterprise from Thailand - Socialgiver will strengthen sustainable approach and continue the “Meaningful Travel" campaign. It aims to focus on promoting tourism that benefits tourists as well as the local communities and the environment. This campaign has been initiated since the previous year.
For over a year, the campaign has raised more than 600,000 Baht and over 100,000 big trees have been preserved. The Meaningful Travel campaign is a way to amplify the intentions of the future of travel for Thailand - a direct way for tourists to make socially conscious choices and to support lifestyle brands that are accountable for the well being of our nature and strengthen Thailand’s local communities. Travelers can book hotels, restaurants, spa and experiences in Thailand through this platform and help create a positive impact to the environment. Half of what travelers spend will fund Big Trees Foundation to make their holidays even more special.
“Tourism Authority of Thailand is committed to working towards responsible and sustainable tourism, as we believe that it's the key to preserving our natural resources, culture, and communities. Meaningful Travel campaign will make it easy travellers from Nordic and Baltic to enjoy their favorite destination and at the same time they can preserve Thailand’s environment. Together, we can make tourism sustainable in the most effective and meaningful way,” says Mrs. Orn Doungchan, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand Stockholm Office
TAT’s commitment to drive the Thai tourism industry towards safe and sustainable travel. The strategy is in line with Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green or BCG Economic Model and the Sustainable Tourism Goal (STGs) which is in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TAT’s STGs strategy is to be implemented in Thai tourism sector. This will contribute to sustainability in four dimensions comprising management, socio-economy, culture, and the environment.
To promote Thailand as a sustainable and responsible holiday destination, TAT Stockholm office, will be organizing “Meaningful Travel Showcase” to increase awareness among Nordic travelers and showcase ongoing sustainable projects in Thailand. The press meeting will be organized on 15 August 2023 in Copenhagen and 17 August 2023 in Stockholm.
