Coinciding with World Environment Day on June 5th 2009, Peel Advertising have announced their commitment to environmentally responsible advertising with the introduction of their highly energy efficient illuminated 6-sheet panels, marketed under its’ “eco-adds” package for advertisers.

Owned by Peel Holdings, Peel Advertising manages a large portfolio of high traffic media sites at shopping centers including The Trafford Centre and the newly opened Gloucester Quays, and at Airports including Liverpool John Lennon, Robin Hood Doncaster, and Durham Tees Valley. The technology behind the “eco-adds” is being provided by L.E.D. specialists Eco Illumination, and typically uses just 20%-30% of the electricity commonly used by fluorescent tube illumination, dramatically reducing CO2 emissions and Carbon footprint. Jon Levenson, managing director or Peel Advertising, said: “Advertisers are now able to make a positive choice for the environment. The sites can be booked in their own right, or included as part of a wider national campaign. This eco-advertising can also help companies garner positive green PR, and help them to achieve their carbon reduction targets. “The sites have bright and even illumination with no striping, colours that literally come to life, and bright clean whites, especially important to cosmetics clients. With now daily news on climate change, and the introduction next year of the Government’s mandatory Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme, it is clear that energy efficiency is set to climb higher up the agenda. “The sites won’t just appeal to companies advertising green products or services though,” adds Levenson. “The majority of companies now increasingly have environmental policies and environmental purchasing directives, which makes this technology a clever as well as effective way to target your markets.”
