CHARITY RIDERS GEARING UP FOR AFRICAN CYCLE

There are just 12 months to go until members of the transport and logistics industry experience the ride of their lives as they cycle 400km across Tanzania for international development charity Transaid. Ten places have already gone, with more adventure-seeking volunteers needed for this incredible challenge.
The nine day long trip will see the cyclists set off from the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, visit several national parks, before finishing at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater – one of the best places for wildlife spotting in the world.
During the challenge riders will tackle rugged terrain, experience beautiful Tanzanian scenery and pass through Masai villages as they raise vital funds for Transaid’s development projects.
Gary Forster, Transaid’s Chief Executive, says: “With only 12 months to go until this amazing cycle ride now really is the perfect time for anyone thinking about taking part to sign up and join us.
“Events like these provide crucial funding for Transaid’s projects and we are so grateful to all our supporters who get on their bikes and raise such fantastic sums of money for us. This ride will be challenging at some points, but we guarantee anyone who takes part will have a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Participants signed up so far include teams and individuals from DFDS Seaways, Labyrinth Logistics, Michelin Tyres PLC and Multimodal.
Guy Heywood, Commercial Director at Michelin, who will be joined by a team of three colleagues for this challenge, says: “We have been supporting Transaid’s Africa Challenges for many years now and they enable us to see the charity's great work in action. I would encourage anyone thinking about taking part to sign up - the challenge is an unbelievable experience as you get to cycle through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and camp under amazing skies, all while raising money for a lifesaving charity."
A sign-up fee of £299 is required, with riders needing to meet a £3,300 fundraising target. Transaid’s team are on hand to offer all participants helpful hints and support on fundraising and training for the event.
