The Board of Directors of Transparency International is pleased to announce the appointment, effective 1 April, of Daniel Eriksson as Chief Executive Officer.

Daniel has been the Interim Managing Director of Transparency International’s Secretariat in Berlin since March 2020, after previously holding the position of Head of Technology where he oversaw our work on the role of emerging technologies in corruption. He brings with him a wealth of leadership experience in both the private and not-for-profit sectors, developing and implementing strategy for multi-country teams in a variety of sectors.

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead Transparency International’s Secretariat at a critical time in its history,” said Daniel Eriksson. “The anti-corruption challenges ahead are many and made more pressing by the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and the rise of authoritarianism and populism worldwide. With a strong and dedicated team at the International Secretariat in Berlin, and the strength and diversity of our National Chapters around the world, we are ready to tackle those challenges.”

Daniel is a passionate advocate for the work of Transparency International and the role technology can have in our global efforts to prevent and end corruption. He takes over as Chief Executive Officer as the organisation launches Holding Power to Account – A Global Strategy Against Corruption 2021-2030, positioning Transparency International at the forefront of tackling anti-corruption challenges over the next decade.

“We are excited to work together with all of our partners on delivering on our ambitious goals to make tangible steps towards our vision of a world free of corruption,” added Eriksson.

Delia Ferreira Rubio, Chair of Transparency International, said: “Following a participatory recruitment process, the Board of Directors was unanimous in its decision that Daniel is the right person to lead the Transparency International Secretariat into the future. We are looking forward to working with him to deliver our new strategic vision.”
