Trend celebrates success in the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards
Trend Control Systems, the leading international manufacturer and supplier of state-of-the-art Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), is celebrating after winning a silver Design Effectiveness Award 2016 from the Design Business Association (DBA). The company’s pioneering IQ®4 range of controllers, designed in collaboration with Ratio Design Associates, received a Silver Award at this prestigious event.
The DBA's Design Effectiveness Awards have been championing the role of effective design in the creation of business growth and efficiency since they were formed 27 years ago. They showcase the most effective partnerships between business and agencies, the very best in innovation, and leading examples in the application of design. These factors produce solutions that exceed the brief by transforming products, services, spaces, perceptions and brands.
When Trend launched its IQ®4 range in 2012, it called upon West Sussex based Ratio Design Associates to develop design criteria that could be adopted throughout the range. As a result, when new devices are brought online, they combine consistent, high quality aesthetics with the technical excellence that Trend has built its reputation upon.
‘Compared to Trend’s IQ®3 range, IQ®4 modules have a 40 per cent smaller footprint and can be housed in smaller, less expensive control cabinets,’ explained Andy Dray, Creative Director at Ratio Design Associates. ‘Modules can now be reliably replaced in half the time, without disruption to neighbouring hardware, product assembly times have been improved by 12 per cent, while sales forecasts have also been exceeded. Furthermore, in line with Trend’s corporate social responsibility strategy, eliminating the need to import component parts has helped to achieve a very low carbon footprint.’
The IQ®4 range has raised the bar in terms of the features that have been incorporated into a controller of this size. Designed to meet the multi-faceted demands of today’s customers, it addresses all their requirements for better space utilisation, flexibility and cost effectiveness in a device that offers best in class performance.
