Hyperdynamics Corporation Gets Lift on Force Majeure Lift and Coca-Cola Phases Out Controversial BVO Ingredient

Hyperdynamics Corporation (NYSE: HDY) said in a statement, "Diligent efforts are being made to satisfy the conditions to resuming petroleum operations which include clarification that the U.S. FCPA investigations of Hyperdynamics will not adversely affect Tullow's operations under the PSC". Tullow Oil, a drilling partner, had lifted its force majeure on a joint project in Guinea. Tullow Guinea Limited provided notice to the Government of Guinea that it had lifted its Force Majeure effective from May 3.


Hyperdynamics Corporation, an independent oil and gas exploration company, is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of oil and gas properties in the Republic of Guinea, Northwest Africa. It owns a 37% working interest in a concession that covers an area of approximately 9,650 square miles in offshore Guinea.

The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) will be droppin a controversial ingredient from all its drinks that contain it, not just Powerade. The ingredient is called brominated vegetable oil, or BVO, and had been the target of petitions on Change.org by a Mississippi teenager, who wanted it out of Gatorade and Powerade. Coca-Cola is dropping BVO from Powerade. A spokesman for Coca-Cola, Josh Gold, noted that the ingredient is not used in many countries.
