Twitter Crumbles After Shares Unlock and Pfizer/Astrazeneca Deal Sparks Fears

Twitter, Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) shares sank after a huge amount of the company's stock was unlocked this week. The unlock  of shares  allowed shareholders in the firm who have long held the company's stock to sell their equity. As a result shares of Twitter sank more than 11%. In comparison Facebook soared more than 10% the day the company unlocked 800 million Facebook shares.

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) has proposed a $106 billion takeover of AstraZeneca, Britain's second-largest drugs company, in a deal that the company says would bolster innovative science and speed the development of new treatments. The deal, which would be the largest foreign takeover of any British company has sparked fears over skilled job losses. Combining the two companies would create the world's largest pharmaceuticals business and would save Pfizer billions of dollars in taxes by moving its domicile to Britain.
