U.S. Supreme Court to Hear Teva Pharmaeutical Industries’ Appeal over Copaxone and Oracle Corp. unveils New MySQL Development Milestone 5.7.4
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (NYSE: TEVA) shares moved higher after the U.S. Supreme Court today decided that it will hear an appeal filed by the Israel-based pharmaceutical and drug company that develops, produces and markets generic drugs in all treatment categories. Teva is in a patent fight over its bestselling multiple sclerosis drug Copaxone. Copaxone is a branded drug of the company’s that makes up some 20% of its sales and about 50% of profits. This is a move that could see generic manufacturers steer away from introducing cheaper versions onto the market as soon as this May.

Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) shares climbed after the company unveiled the new MySQL Development Milestone 5.7.4 for the popular open source relational database management system (RDMS) MySQL. "To meet the demands of today's web, cloud, and embedded applications, the new release extends the performance, scalability and reliability of MySQL, the world's most popular open source database, while also enhancing management capabilities," the company said. Oracle Corp. said the new release will double the speed of the RDMS.
