Opcon Bioenergy takes first repeat order for improved energy efficiency in Czech Republic

Opcon Bioenergy, a subsidiary of Opcon, the energy and environmental technology Group, has taken a first repeat order for plants for recycling of waste heat within bioenergy applications in the Czech Republic. The order for delivery of flue gas condensation equipment, including treatment system, to an additional district heating plant operated by TTS in the city of Trebic, follows on from the breakthrough into the Czech Republic made by the company last summer. Delivery and operational start-up is planned for the summer of 2011.

The plant is expected to increase energy efficiency in the biomass-powered district heating plant by 25-30% while significantly reducing emissions of dust particles to under 20 mg/nm3. The customer is Intech Slovakia s.r.o, a subsidiary of TTS eko s.r.o., a leading player within biomass in the Czech Republic and Slovakia that operates a number of its own plants and makes extensive technical sales in this sector.

“Our customer was very satisfied with the performance of the condenser and the flue gas treatment, which meets environmental requirements by some margin. This is naturally a very strong vote of approval that they are ordering a plant for one of their own district heating stations after just a few months of seeing the first plant in operation,” says Claes Scheibe, CEO of Opcon Bioenergy AB.

“We are very optimistic about the bioenergy market in the Czech Republic, where fossil fuels and nuclear power have completely dominated the energy sector to date, and together with TTS we will increase our marketing efforts going forward,” says Claes Scheibe, CEO of Opcon Bioenergy AB.

Opcon Bioenergy is part of Opcon’s expanding Renewable Energy business area and its focus on Waste to Value with a special emphasis on Waste Heat Recovery and bioenergy. Under its RenergiTM brand, Opcon supplies systems for treatment and improved energy efficiency to biomass-powered district heating plants, sawmills, pellets manufacturers and commercial greenhouses, as well as treatment equipment for industrial plants and drying systems for biomass.

Within the bioenergy sector, Opcon Bioenergy offers a wide range of services, from design of complete combined power and heating plants to handling systems and combustion plants under the SaxlundTM brand. The Group also supplies Opcon PowerboxTM for production of green electricity based on hot water or saturated steam.
