SEK 30 million in major bioenergy order to Eastern Europe

Energy and environmental technology group Opcon today received a further SEK 30 million order for Svensk Rökgasenergi’s (SRE) energy and environmental technology to district heating plants in Siauliai, Panevezys and Zarasai in Lithuania. The order, via partner Axis Industries, is for delivery of three complete plants for flue gas condensation, cleaning and water treatment, where waste heat will be utilized in order to increase energy efficiency. The system will also lower particle emissions. Boiler effect in the district heating plants varies between 8 and 38 MW. The deliveries are to be made in 2010/2011. The order is a good example of the successful partnership strategy of Opcon and SRE, which includes a close cooperation with local partner companies in various markets. “Opcon has in a short time developed into one of Sweden’s leading players in bioenergy. We can now act as a total supplier with a broad customer offer and a variety of different solutions around a core in Waste Heat Recovery. Our increasingly close partnership with Axis, with its 740 employees in Lithuania and marketing in Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, is continuing to generate results. Last year we took orders via Axis for a total of more than SEK 40 million in Lithuania. We are now receiving a further lump sum of SEK 30 million,” says Rolf Hasselström, President and CEO Opcon AB. “Including these installations we will have delivered nine plants to Lithuania, notwithstanding the financial crisis that has held back projects in the region. If the financing situation in the region eases, we count on a strong increase in orders in the future,” says Rolf Hasselström. SRE’s products are part of Opcon’s growing Renewable Energy business area and its investment in areas including Waste to Value with particular focus on Waste Heat Recovery and Bioenergy. SRE delivers systems for cleaning and energy efficiency improvement to biomass powered district heating plants, sawmills, pellets manufacturers and commercial glasshouses. The range also includes cleaning equipment for factories and mills and drying systems for biomass. In addition to the systems delivered under the SRE brand, Opcon offers a full range of solutions in the bioenergy sector from design of complete plants to handling systems under the Saxlund brand. This is complemented by the Opcon Powerbox for production of electricity from hot water or wet steam.
